Obituary of Halina Raczy
RĄCZY, Halina
Halina passed away peacefully with family at her side on October 5, 2023, at the age of 72. Reunited with her soulmate Zdzisław (2020). Loving mother to her precious girls Magdalena Tułacz and husband Robert, and Anna Langlois and husband Scott. Cherished Babcia to her “serduszko” Emma and her “prince” Jacob. Predeceased by her parents Józefa and Zygmunt Rączy, and her mother and father in-law Franciszka and Walenty Rączy. Dear sister of Zofia and husband Stanisław Jasinkiewicz, and Marta and husband Lester Wichłacz. Dear sister in-law of Tadeusz and Danuta Rączy, the late Ferdynand and surviving wife Weronika Rączy, and the late Władysław and surviving wife Kazimiera Rączy, all of Poland. She is dearly missed by her best friend Lucy Gorzelski, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends in Poland, Canada and USA.
Halina was a loving and vibrant woman, with a passion for Polish literature, and talent for writing poetry, short stories and satire. As a young woman, she was the life of the party and loved to dance the night away with her one and only - Zdzisiu. She worked as a bookkeeper before immigrating to Canada in 1989, and devoting her life to the care of her aging parents and her precious grandchildren, whom she loved beyond measure. She aged with grace, enjoying gardening, reading, crossword and sudoku puzzles. Despite enduring health issues, Halina remained positive and determined to persevere, and was a constant source of strength, comfort and wisdom to those around her.
The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to Dr. Sowmil Mehta for his exceptional care during Halina’s 15-year battle with Scleroderma; many thanks to the wonderful staff and residents of Heron Terrace (Birdsview) for their friendship, kindness and care; and sincere gratitude to Dr. Tremblay and the Palliative Care team for their concern and compassion during Halina’s final days.
Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL - Banwell (11677 Tecumseh Road E.) on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, with prayers at 8:15 pm. On Thursday, October 12, 2023, family and friends are invited to Holy Trinity Church (1035 Ellis St East) for a Polish Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, followed by a procession to Halina’s final resting place, Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
