I am just seeing this sad news today.
Colleen and I shared many good times together, going back to university days on PEI in the 1970s, and also with her beautiful children and family whenever summer visits to Halifax occurred in later years. Her quick wit and generosity of spirit will always be with me.
Above all else, you were a wonderful mother, Colleen. I cherish my memories of being with your children and you.
Thank you for welcoming me to be part of your life. I shall miss you.
Charles MacKenzie, Halifax

My deepest condolences to Collen's family. I met Colleen when I was a school trustee repesenting St. Angela Catholic School and Catholic Central High School. She was a force to be reckoned with, always making sure that all children had what they needed. She was amazing. I'm very saddened to hear of her passing.

I had the pleasure of working with Colleen. She was such a caring loving person with a wonderful sense of humour.
She always made me and a lot of others laugh and feel comfortable around her…and it was effortless. Her children and grands were her world. her smile always got bigger when we spoke of them. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Just an exemplary human being with a big heart. Condolences to the family.
RIP Colleen ❤️

While we lost contact after we moved, I still have great memories of whispering (loudly) with Colleen and Danny from our second story windows when we lived next door to each other…..long conversations and laughter until our parents shouted at us to be quiet and go to bed!!. So sorry that she has gone on at such a young age.

My heart aches for all of you. Today and tomorrow will be hard for you but your Mom gave you all the strength to make it through these tough days. Just try to focus on all the love and good times Colleen tried to share with you all, me included. One of my best memories was the day in Halifax when we pulled up to a Hfx transit bus and Colleen motioned for the driver to roll down his window. Then she proceeded to say” I thought that was you. Haven’t seen you for a few years. How is your Mom.? Tell her Colleen said hello”. Thank heavens the light turned green because we were all bursting with laughter. I can see her now. Walking in the waves at Martinique Beach and climbing over the rocks in the fog at Peggy’s Cove, 2 of her favorite places. Good bye, dear cousin. Please watch over us all as you walk with all those who went before you . Rest in peace.

Cathy, Anne and all of Colleen’s children and friends– I remember when the Tierney family moved into the neighbourhood and our lives. Colleen became an instant friend of my sister Jenny and so we all knew and loved her. She was a character with the biggest smile and the greatest chuckle!! Our paths crossed many times over the years. She has left this earth much too soon. She had a wonderful faith and I know that she will be celebrating with God and her family and friends. Deepest sympathies from Maureen St Pierre Greff and my family

Colleen you were my dearest friend and next door neighbour on Chilver Road. We share so many happy and hilarious memories, playing house on your front porch and meeting outside to play with our neighbouring friends until the streetlights came on!
I cherish these memories and our various encounters through the years, your warm hugs. Much love.

Extending my sympathy to all of Colleen's family and friends upon reading of her passing. As a long time customer she always stopped to say hello whenever she was shopping in the store. We shared many family stories over the years. May all your precious memories of years gone by help ease the sorrow of your loss. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Ruth-Anne Stewart (retired, pharmacy)

I remember Colleen being at our house when I was a kid. She was best friends with my sister Sheila and felt like a member of our family. We have stayed in touch over the years and she still felt like a member of the family. Colleen was an amazing women who inspired me to be a better parent just by her example. I would be a miss not to mention her sense of humor . From childhood to adulthood she always made us laugh with her frank and humorous look at life and the people in it, including her self. To the family we are so sorry. She was way to young. Now with your loved ones may you rest in peace. I know Sheila was there waiting at the gates for you Colleen. You have a lot to get caught up on.
Go Irish!

Tommy, Colleen loved Sheila very much, as you know. She spoke glowingly of you, too. The two of them are now looking down at me, hopefully not gloating too much. Only the good die young so they're going to have to pull hard for me. We three did a lot of screaming together, walking down Monmouth Rd, and waking the dead over at St Mary's. Perhaps they've met some of those souls, whose bones are down the street! All the best to the Power's. Jenny

It is time you enjoyed the bliss of heaven, dear one. You so deserve it. We'll have to have our next lunch with Miss Malone in heaven. If she gets there before I do, save me a seat. I admired you for many reasons, so many of them mentioned in that wonderful and fitting obit by those fantastic kids of yours. Throughout your life, your singlemindedness in the quest to do good - especially with regard to your children - never faded. Thank you for being the friend you were and are still. I count on your prayers for me. Thanks already for what you have done in the short time you've been in heaven; I am not surprised and knew I could count on you. Fly high Colleen!! In this public posting I will behave myself and say: "BLESS you and the horse you rode in on!"
