Obituary of Antonio "Tony" Mancuso

MANCUSO, Antonio "Tony"

August 22, 1946 - September 13, 2023

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Antonio, a loving husband, father, brother and friend, at the age of 77. Beloved husband and best friend to Bianca (nee De Matteis) with whom he celebrated 53 years of blessed marriage. Loving and devoted father to Enzo Mancuso, and Lina Mancuso. Antonio is reunited with his beloved parents, Carlo and Giovina Mancuso (nee Greco) and in-laws Umberto and Sabina De Matteis. Cherished brother to Vincenzo (Maria) Mancuso, Angelo (Erminia) Mancuso, Alba (Michele) Ciampa, Lina (late Alfonso) Angotti, late Mario Mancuso, Arealdo (Lina) Mancuso, and Salvatore Mancuso. Dear brother in-law to Maria (Bill) Trapani, Clara (George) Mager, Tony (Tammy) De Matteis, and Pasquali (Charon) De Matteis. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, U.S.A., Australia and France. Tony will be remembered for his passion for making his own homemade salami, prosciutto's, culatello etc, and for his extensive garden of vegetables that he shared with family and friends. He enjoyed playing in his golf league on Tuesday's and Bocce Fila at the Giovanni Caboto Club. His heartfelt generosity and willingness to drop whatever he was doing to help others, be it Enzo and his restaurants, Lina and her house, and friends with whatever they needed, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to helping others. Antonio retired from Chrysler Canada after 37 years of dedicated service and was a member of Unifor Local 444 and the Giovanni Caboto Club. Tony was a founding member of the Caboto Soccer Committee which was established in the early 1980's. Most knew Tony as the happy and enthusiastic Caboto Soccer supporter who would show up at Holy Names High School at any given time to fix the nets, support the teams and provide smiles and a positive interaction with everyone he met. Tony held several positions on the Board over his 40+ years of volunteering. He served as President, Vice President and Treasurer. Most recently, he was the Club ombudsman who kept everyone in line and reminded them what their purpose was on the Committee. "Serve the Players. Make sure they have the best experience possible." Tony was truly passionate to the word about Caboto Soccer. He taught everyone the importance of "attention to detail", as he showed this in his role as Treasurer. Over his 20+ years in that position, there was never a penny unaccounted. At the same time, Tony was also happy to play the role as Devil's Advocate, as he was known to challenge the Board and President on decisions he didn't quite agree with. His departure has left a massive void in the lives of many on the Caboto Soccer Committee. Tony's legacy will never be forgotten. A heartVisifelt and sincere thank you to the I.C.U team at WRH, Ouellette Campus, Doctors Wasserman, Jakobs and Joshi, caregivers Andrea, Andrea, Rita and Diane for your exceptional and compassionate care provided to Antonio and our family, and to Patrizia for your guidance.
