Power, John Arthur With the style of a true Gentleman, John left us Friday August 29th, 2008 to reunite with the love of his life, Mildred (nee Pitre) His ninety years were celebrated April 12th, 2008 with daughters Maureen Hoffman, Colleen Savage and husband Marc. Grandchildren Craig Bondy and wife Beth, Mathieu and Brendan Savage, Brittney Hoffman (and her father Stan Hoffman) and Great-Grandaughter, Paighton Marie.Born the son of John and Minnie Power (nee Pillon) he will be greatly missed by his younger brother Bernard (the late Shirley) and his baby sister Theresa Haggarty and husband Jerry. John will be fondly remembered by in-laws Genevieve Gray (late Marsh), Lionel Pitre and his wife Shirley, Dolores Pitre (late Aimable) Vivian Pitre (late Bernard) and Anne Canavan (late Romeo) The Sun shining Friday afternoon, was actually Heaven reflecting the smiles of his family; Olive Deneau (husband Desmond), Kathleen Gatfield (husband Bill), Augustine Power and In-Laws Florence Noel (Jim), Reginald Pitre (Hilda), Gil Pitre (Grace), Antoinette Charlton (Jack), Gabriel Pitre (Mary), Louis Pitre (Paule), Corinne Drouillard (Norm), Gerard Pitre (Shirley) and Romeo (Cecile).John was an employee of Kelsey Hayes and retired after 35 years of service. Many nieces and nephews have fond memories of Uncle John and special times visiting his apple orchard. John was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, a member of K of C Mother Theresa Council, Canadian Bell Association the American Bell Association and the Greater Windsor Horticultural Society. A proud Veteran of the Canadian Navy, he served his Country as a Master Welder during WWII. An avid gardner, he was a modern day St. Francis, nurturing all of God's creations including his passion for his Flower and Vegetable Gardens, fruit orchard but above all else his prize winning Irises. Resting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Rd. East on Monday September 1, 2008, from 7 - 9 p.m. and Tuesday September 2, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. Windsor Veteran's Service will be held at 3:00 pm under the auspices of the WVMSC. Parish and K of C prayers in the evening at 8:00 pm. Funeral Wednesday September 3, 2008 from the Funeral Home at 9:45 am to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
