Obituary of Ronald St. Amour

St. Amour, Ronald

February 22, 1940 – July 24, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron St. Amour with his family by his side after a 13 year battle with prostate cancer and other complications.

Devoted husband and best friend for over 60 years to June (Selley).  Loving Dad of Sue Lindquist (Rick Goyeau), Rob (Florence), Steve (Wendy) and Ted.  Proud Pipi of Megan, Kayla (Eric Sinasac), Kelsey (Drew McCann), Austin Lindquist (Josephine), Daniel (Aubrey), Nicole, Ben, Drew, Nick, Luke, and great-grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Alex and Lily.  Brother of June McBride (Glen 1999) and Larry (2022) (June (2020)).  Brother-in-law of Patrick (Brigitte), and Richard (Lisa) Selley.  Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his first wife Patricia (Amlin) (1962), parents, Florence (2002) and Mede (1994), infant son, John (1963) and grandsons, Adam and Evan (1999) and parents -in-law, Rita (1964), and Cyril (1967) brother-in-law, Michael (2003) (Georgette (2017)) and sister-in-law Linda (2004) (Gary Gagnon).

Ron retired from The Windsor Star in 1994. One of the first things he did when he became Maintenance Foreman was to create a schedule giving his workers better family time.

Family was everything to Ron.  He always said how lucky he was being married to June.  Many annual family reunions were held in their backyard.  His parents had great vacations with us sometimes twice a year.  For many years, once a week, his Dad, brother and he would get together for horseshoes, darts and computer games.  There were a lot of laughs on Tuesdays in our home. Ron missed his brother so much that Tuesdays were never the same.

During retirement, Ron and June spent many winter months in the warmer climates.  In the past few years, he loved being at home sitting in his chair watching and feeding the birds. Canasta was his favourite card game and played almost daily beating June the majority of the time.
