Photo with Legion Crest for Friday and Sat. WALLACE, Charles (WW II Veteran) Passed away on April 9, 2008. Cherished husband for 66 years to Doreen (nee Dewar). Loving father of the late Deslys Herniman. Survived by son Doug and wife Doreen. Cherished grandfather to Dawn Herniman, Ryan Herniman, Douglas Wallace and wife Patty, Darren Wallace and wife Heather, Vincent Wallace and wife Kate. Great-grandfather to Maeve, Maya and Emma Wallace. Dear brother to Betty and late husband Arnold Katzman, Shirley Kassenburg and predeceased by sisters Doris and husband Edward Abbott and Margaret and husband Roy Warren. Charles will be missed by his God son Dwayne Dewar. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Wallace was a retired Canada Customs Officer with 55 years of service with the Federal Government. Mr. Wallace was very proud of his many community involvements. They include 32nd degree Mason-Shriner, 3 times president of Masonic Lodge No. 627. Life member, past president and 38 years of secretary, treasurer of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #403, Pelee Island . Enlisted in the Essex Regiment Tank, served overseas with the Ontario Tank Regiment. Life member of the Ontario Tank Regiment Association and the Sergeants Mess Windsor Regiment Association, awarded the C.D. Served 32 years on Pelee Island Township Council, 18 years of which he served as Reeve and 9 years as Deputy Reeve. Memorial visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Sunday, April 13, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Under the auspices of Windsor Veteran's Memorial Services Committee a Veteran Service will be held on Sunday April 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Charity of your choice.
