Obituary of Pietro Pellarin

PELLARIN - Pietro (Peter) Renato Our most beloved went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 10th, 2008 at Metropolitan Hospital. Peter was born in Pescincanna, Fiume Veneto, Italy on June 29, 1940. He was the spouse, soulmate and best friend to Maria (Mary"nee Povoledo) for 45 years. Most precious and proud father of Steven, Claudia (Greg) Murphy, and David (Kerrie). Beloved Nonno to his adored grandchildren: Quinn, Vaughan, Sibeal Murphy and Mitchell Pellarin. Beloved brother of Teresina, Bruna (2002), Angelo (1957), Tersilia and Rita of Italy, Agnes Elvira (Rino 2003) Cinat of Windsor and Taricisio (Lia) of London. Beloved brother in law of Alfeo and Lillian Povoledo of Woodstock and Maria Pellarin and Luigi Petozzi of Italy. Loving uncle of many nephews and nieces in Italy and the families of Linda (Leo) Saroli, Marisa (Al) Bertoia, Mary Lou (Chad) Teno, Sue (Ed) Tremblay of Windsor and Louise (Duff) Fraser and Dennis Pellarin of London, Jennifer Povoledo of Prince George, B.C. and Aaron Povoledo of Toronto. Most loved son in law of Giacomo (Lidia 2004) Povoledo Peter immigrated to Canada in 1959, and retired as a Maintenance Foreman from the Greater Essex County District School Board in 1999. He loved us to the depth of his soul and his strong ethics and compassion showed in all he did. Pete's greatest loves were his family, friends, fishing, sports, gardening and his beloved grandchildren. His talents were plentiful and his selflessness was evident by his many volunteer activities. These included: Meals on Wheels, the Choir and Parish Council of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, The Knight of Columbus Mother Teresa Council #12494 (treasurer), Habitat for Humanity, the Italian Men's Choir (14 yrs). Pietro was a longtime and devoted member of the Fogolar Furlan Club. His many friends and family will always remember his infectious laugh and ever-present smile. We thank God for the gift of Peter and all the beautiful memories he gave us. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME 1700 Tecumseh Road East (519-253-7234) on Friday April 11, 2008 from 2:30pm until 5pm and 7 to 9pm. Prayers Friday at 7:30pm. Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday April 12, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church 804 Grand Marais Road from 10am until time of funeral mass at 11:00am. Interment Windsor Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Doctors without Borders or to the Scalabrini Foundation for the Poor.
