Obituary of Giovanna Senesi

SENESI, Giovanna nee Dottor Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 1, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Reunited with her late husband Silvano (1988). Loving mother to Anne Senesi, Leo Senesi of Florida, Fred and Andrea Senesi of Florida. Special aunt to James Ermacora. Cherished grandmother to Laura & Duane O'Connor, Marcus & Danielle Moldovan, Joanna & Eric Soderlund, Alexandra and Christina Senesi both of Florida. Great grandmother to Shannon O'Connor, Mattison O'Connor, Jack Soderlund, Macie Soderlund and Baby Moldovan. Survived by sister Gorizia (Tish) Dottor of London, ON., and predeceased by brothers Frank, Albert and sisters Helen Ermacora and Mary Arbour. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Giovanna was founder and President of Windsor Catering Service Ltd., official caterers of the Cleary Convention Centre from 1960-1990. The highlight of her career was when she had the honour of catering the luncheon at the Cleary for Queen Elizabeth when she visited Windsor . She was a founding member, life member and longest standing member of the Giovanni Caboto Italian Womens Club. She was named "Italian of the Year" by the Giovanni Caboto Club in 1986. Giovanna was also a past member of many other organizations including Local Council of Women, Business and Professional Women of Windsor, and the Canadian and Ontario Restaurant Associations. During her winters in Florida she was a volunteer at the North Beach Hospital. She was an avid opera fan. She loved to travel and counted her flight on the Concord a highlight of her several trips to Europe. Visiting at the WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., Friday, July 4, 2008 from 2-4 and from 6-9 pm, prayers 7:30 pm. Funeral service on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 8:45 am from the funeral home then to St. Angela Merici Church for a Funeral Mass at 9:30 am. Interment Heavenly Rest Cemetery.
