Obituary of John Joseph Kassa

KASSA, John J May 15, 1933 - May 14, 2008 Passed away at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus with his family at his side. Loving husband of Patricia Kassa for 50 years. Beloved father of Kimberly Nantau and her husband Bill; Christopher Kassa and his wife Tara. Cherished grandfather of Lauren Nantau. Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Anne Kassa. Survived by sister Helen Herman and the late John; brother Bill Kassa and the late Carol; sister-in-law Fran Mularchyk of Savannah, Georgia and the late Mike. Nephew of George Jurecko; Maryanne Jurecko and the late Andrew. Also survived by several nieces and nephews John was active in the community and was President from 1979-1980 for the Windsor Life Underwriters Association. Past President for the Canadian Cancer Society of Essex County. He had a twenty five year affiliation with the order of United Commercial Travelers of America. Past member of Rotary - Windsor St. Clair (Paul Harris Fellow). Honorary member of Knights of Columbus and a founding member of the Fr. Paul Watson Council #8919. John had a passion for family, friends and a zest for life until Alzheimer's and Parkinson's took over and he was no longer able to participate as he would have liked. John was a life underwriter for many years and opened his own insurance brokerage (Kastec Insurance Ltd.) in the latter part of his career until his retirement. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. on Friday, May 16, 2008 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus prayers at 8 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received for visitation at Parish of Atonement (2940 Forest Glade Drive) on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Cemetery. Special thank you to the staff at Heron Terrace Nursing Home - Meadows Point for the care and compassion given to John.
