Obituary of Inder Kumar Nayar
It is with great sadness that the Nayar family announces the passing of Inder Kumar Nayar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and friend.
Born in India, Inder immigrated to Canada in 1970 with very little but tremendous determination and ambition. He made Windsor his home, where through hard work and perseverance he built a successful manufacturing business in the automotive industry. He was immensely grateful for the opportunities Canada gave him, while India always remained close to his heart. He loved both countries deeply—Canada, where he built his life and raised his family, and India, the country that shaped him.
Inder was predeceased by his beloved wife, Amrita Nayar. He will be deeply missed by his sons, Manish Nayar, his wife Anika, and their children Arjun and Priyanka; and Mohit Nayar, his wife Natalie, and their children Kumar and Shyla. His family, and particularly his grandchildren, were an enormous source of pride and joy.
Inder possessed an insatiable curiosity about the world and loved sharing that curiosity with others. An avid general-knowledge buff, he took great pleasure in lively conversations and spirited discussions with family, friends, and anyone willing to engage—particularly about politics, business, technology, and current affairs. He was also a lifelong cricket enthusiast and devoted supporter of the Indian cricket team, rarely missing a match. Wherever India was playing, Inder was cheering them on.
Inder’s life was a true immigrant story—leaving one country he loved to make a home in another, working hard, taking risks, building a successful life, and creating opportunities for the generations that followed him.
His legacy lives on in his sons and grandchildren, in the family he built with Amrita, in the people whose lives he touched, and in the countless conversations, debates, stories, and memories shared over a lifetime.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
