Obituary of Raymond Eugene Cousineau

It is with deep sadness that the family of Raymond Eugene Cousineau announce his passing at the age of 78 on August 29, 2026, with his cherished wife and children by his side. Raymond shared 60 years with his wife and best friend Margaret (Albano) and together they built a wonderful life raising two children, Lori Hugli (Paul) and Scott Cousineau (Tammy). Ray was a proud and loving grandpa to Morgan Fleming (Justin), Leah Meloche (Hayden) and Josh Hugli (Kailynne) and great grandpa to Elwyn Fleming. Ray is predeceased by his beloved parents Eugene and Irene Cousineau, and his brother Roy. He will be missed by his siblings Gloria Freeman (Gord), June Catton (late Randy), Gerry Cousineau (Mariann), Janet Dupuis (late Rick), Margaret Carter (Bill), Mary Chernawski (Rick), Jim Cousineau (Cindy) and his many nieces and nephews. Ray and Margaret moved north to Sudbury after their marriage and Ray began his career with INCO working as an electrician in their Power Department. He later became the Superintendent of Mine Maintenance at Creighton Mine, a job that eventually lead him to Indonesia, where he lead a project rebuilding the power grid serving the mine and town of Sorowako, Sulawesi. Ray and Margaret embarked on many great adventures together- he walked on the Great Wall of China, rode elephants in Thailand, snorkelled in the Great Barrier Reef, cruised on the rivers of Europe, wintered in Arizona, and marvelled at the beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Despite his many travel experiences, Ray’s favourite place in the world was at the family cottage on the French River in Northern Ontario. Ray could build or fix just about anything and never hesitated to share his expertise and lend a hand. Ray will always be remembered for his wisdom and unwavering support for those of us who loved him. We will miss his hugs, the sharing of interesting facts he read in an article, time spent as a family at camp, boating, fishing, hiking and of course, his famous Sunday morning pancakes. The family would like to thank the care team of the 7th floor at Windsor Met Hospital. A very special thank you to nurses Emily, Jessie, and Melanie who delivered exceptional care during his final days. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Banwell, 11677 Tecumseh Rd E in Windsor on Thursday September 3 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a service held at 2pm in the chapel. A private family interment at Windsor Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
