Obituary of Jerzy Banach

Jerzy Banach, an extraordinary individual whose life was both a testament to resilience and a beacon of warmth, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 23, 1941, in the quaint village of Wilkowice, Poland, Jerzy was the cherished son of Jozef and Pelagia Banach. His journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Jerzy proudly served as a navyman in Poland, a chapter in his life that fortified his character and instilled in him a profound sense of duty. After his service, he embarked on a fulfilling career as an electrician at Chrysler, where he dedicated 22 years, contributing his skills and expertise with diligence and integrity.

In his personal life, Jerzy was blessed to share 47 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Bogumila Eva Banach (nee Bujak). Together, they forged a bond that was both a partnership and a friendship, standing by each other's side through life's many adventures. Their love was a guiding light that illuminated the lives of their children, Malgosia Bontar (Krzysztof), Patricia, and Robert (Lily), teaching them the values of kindness, perseverance, and family unity.

Jerzy's passion for the great outdoors was evident in his avid love for hunting and fishing. He found solace and joy in the natural world, particularly at his cherished cottage up north. His skills as a handyman, alongside his reputation as a "jack of all trades," meant there was hardly a task he couldn't master. He was always ready with a smile and a helping hand, embodying the spirit of generosity.

His sisters, Marysia Skubiszynski and Teresa Janicki, along with numerous nieces and nephews in Poland, held a special place in his heart. Jerzy's legacy of familial devotion and his warm, welcoming presence will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In memory of Jerzy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society, an organization close to their hearts.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Village of Aspen Lake, especially the Tecumseh Town staff, for their compassionate care and support during Jerzy's final days. Your kindness will forever be appreciated.

A visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Location (11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor, ON) on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 10 am until time of the Funeral Service at 12 pm. Cremation has taken place.
