Obituary of Violet Belanger

BELANGER, Violet (nee Blakelock) Passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026 at the age of 89. Predeceased by her husband Roger Belanger (2013). Loving mother to Allen Belanger (predeceased 2025) (Shannon) Windsor, Joseph Belanger (Jeanette) Elliot Lake, Terry Belanger (Susan) Leamington and Denise D’Angela (Gianni) Windsor. Cherished grandmother to Jennifer (Matt), Jeremy (Laura), Whitney (Jeff), Rozzalynn (Matt), Dana (Randy), Danielle (Chris), Ashley (Brandon), Peter (Megan), Kristina (Salvatore) and Alec (Grace). Adored great grandmother to Rowan, Clark, Bo, Vera, Jack, Ryan, Lily, Piper, Harrison, Aubrey, Charlie, Zack, Bradley, Hayden, Graham, Hannah, Wyatt, Theo, Gianluca, Santino and Gianna. Violet is survived by her brothers, Goldie Blakelock and Ted Blakelock, and her sister Joy Scarlett. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Myrtle as well as her siblings: Bonnie Blakelock, Fred Blakelock and Marie MacKay. If anyone deserved to experience the tranquil passage thru the Pearly Gates of Heaven, it was Violet. The family is certain, that this entrance was exploding with fireworks to celebrate her arrival. Her kindred spirit was pure; always seeing the best in people and never casting adverse judgment. She gave love freely and was loved by all. Having originated from northern Ontario, Violet moved to Windsor in 1966. Violet was a homemaker, while her husband was a lineman. Violet’s hobbies and interests included family, baking, sewing, reading, puzzles and refinishing antique furniture. The family feels beyond blessed for each day with Violet. Her primarily goal in life was to take care of her family; an ambition successfully achieved. Violet gave the warmest hugs and people naturally gravitated to be in her presence. The family will be forever grateful to Violet for imparting qualities such as love, empathy, integrity and patience to name a few. Violet was an active volunteer in the gift shop at the Emara Building earning 6000 volunteer hours. During this tenure, Violet connected with many people making this some of her most enjoyable days. In her next chapter, further friendships blossomed during her stay at Brouillette Manor. Special thanks to Dr. Joshi for his many years of care. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Brouillette Manor for their unending attention and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at Windsor Chapel – Banwell Funeral Home 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor, Ontario on Sunday July 26, 2026 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. A service of Remembrance and Prayers to Celebrate Violet’s life will follow at 1pm.
