Obituary of Mario Pallisco

On Sunday June 21, 2026, we sadly said “goodbye for now”, to Mario, our dear and beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, who passed peacefully at the age of 97 years.

Mario was a loving and devoted husband to Maria for 69 years, having met and married in Windsor, after he emigrated from Atina, Italy, in 1952.

Mario spent his teenage years farming and helping the post-war reconstruction efforts. When he immigrated to Canada to begin a new life, he reunited with his older brother Tony, in Windsor. Through his general labourer work with his colleague, mentor and future brother-in-law Joe, Mario met the love of his life, Joe’s sister, Maria, whom he married in 1957 and was his partner in all of his endeavours. He was a well-respected contractor and President of Mario Pallisco Construction Co. and also worked with the Windsor Separate School Board, repairing and modernizing within the schools. Upon his retirement, Mario continued to serve the community through his volunteer work with Windsor Regional Hospital, Hotel-Dieu campus. He was a long-time and proud member and a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus #5642 River Canard, the Caboto Club, the Ciociaro Club and Unifor Local 2458.

Mario was always a hard-working and motivated man, determined to make a good life for his wife and their two children, Ada (Doug) and Aldo (Donna). Later in life, he reveled in the joy of having 5 grandchildren, Cristina (Kevin), Michael, Daniella (Stephen), Julia (Chris) and Natalie (Christopher), as well as in the blessing of having 3 great grandchildren, Rosie, Joey and Claire. Proud of all of us, he instilled in us the values and integrity that he carried in his daily personal and business lives. He was a man of great faith and demonstrated it through his patience, kindness and willingness and ease in helping others.

His Italian traditions were near and dear to him…. making his homemade wine and tending to his garden, to name two. Regaling stories of life back home was a favourite pastime, which brought much laughter and delight, as we imagined the antics undertaken by Mario and his siblings. These he often shared at the gatherings that he cherished…..Mario was a truly social and fun-loving man.

Mario is predeceased by his parents Domenico and Liberada, his siblings and their spouses Antonio (Iole), Fiorinda (Luigi), Santa (Giuseppe), Iolanda (Giuseppe). He is also predeceased by his brother Raffaele, (survived by Maria). Survived by his brother, Alberico (Maria). Survived by brothers and sisters-in -law, Joe and Dina, Frank and Marie, Nino and Josephine.

The family wishes to thank the incredible Paramedics with Windsor-Essex EMS, Dr. K. Dobosz, Dr. C. Laing and the Nursing Staff of Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus, and support workers Elena and Daisy, for the compassionate care afforded to Mario.
