Obituary of Nikola Kokic

KOKIC, Nikola

November 28, 1940 - June 1, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Nikola Kokic on June 1, 2026 at the age of 85. Former spouse of Gloria Reiter for 32 years. Devoted father to his children Karl Kokic (Nada) and Christine Kokic. Nikola is reunited with his parents Baljak and Masa Kokic (nee. Mijat) in heaven. Cherished grandfather to his grandchildren Victoria, Vincent, and Abigail. Adored brother to the late Pavle, Stipan (the late Miranda) and the late Lucia. Nikola will be missed by his nieces Viviana, Julie, the late Dayana, Miri, Suzie, Carol, and nephew Steve.

Nikola devoted 30 years to his work as a custodian at the University of Windsor, demonstrating dedication and commitment. He served as the president of CUPE 1001 from 1985-1995. Nikola was a lifetime avid reader of science and philosophy.

Nikola was a proud Canadian and Croatian. He emigrated to Canada in 1963 and settled in Windsor. He played a role in the construction of Hwy #3. Nikola loved his family and friends both in North America and Croatia.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 2:00pm-5:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm with parish prayers at 7:00pm. Cremation to follow.
