Obituary of Matthew Donald Stewart

STEWART, Matthew Donald.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Matthew Donald Stewart, passed away peacefully at the age of 62. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Donald (2010) and Bernadette (2016) and his brother Charles (2007)

Matt is survived by brother Tim Stewart and wife Susan, and sisters, Mona Turner and husband Jeff. Constance Meloche and husband Alan, Maureen Curtis and husband Kevin, Aimee Stewart, and Aunt Diane (Dee) Stewart and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Matt was proud to be a retired truck driver. He spent most of his adult life traveling in Canada and the USA daily. Matt also loved sports of just about any kind. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan to the end. Above all. he was a patriotic Canadian who was proud of our country and his service in the military.

The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to the Windsor Veteran’s Memorial Committee, the North Wall Riders Association, the staff at Windsor Regional Hospital – Hotel Dieu Campus  and a special thanks to the staff, volunteers and caregivers at Huron Lodge.

According to Matt's request, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, (Central Chapel), 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519) 253-7234 on Monday, May 25, 2026 from 11:00am until 1:00pm in the Chapel.  A Veteran's service under the auspices of the Windsor Veteran's Memorial Services Committee and a combined Memorial service will take place in the Chapel at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. 

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Last Post Fund.
