Obituary of Doreen Dagmar Gazo

GAZO, DOREEN (BURESS, NEE ZAJICEK) 13 JUNE 1926 - 13 MAY 2026 Doreen passed away peacefully, at home, to be with her Heavenly Father. Born in Poland of Czech descent, she came to Canada as a young girl. In 1947 she married Donald Buress, having 43 wonderful years together until his death in 1990, and they were blessed with three much loved children. In 1999 Doreen married John Gazo, and they had 18 years together, enjoying travel and sunshine. John passed away in 2018. Doreen is survived by her children Carol (Bob) Weaver of Ottawa, Bryan (Nancy) Buress of Chilliwack BC and Wendy (David) Asher of Windsor. She was the beloved Babi to nine grandchildren: Andrea (Jean-François), Joanna (Bertrand), Nathan (Boomer), Stephen (Samantha), Grant (Danielle), Lauren (Shannon), Miles, Simon (Ailene) and Leah (Andrew). She also cherished her 12 great-grandchildren: Amelia, Leonie, Barrett, Henry, Bronson, Carmen, Jonas, Ellary, Oakley, Coleman, Elvis and Walker. Predeceased by her brother George, she will be greatly missed by sister Esther and brother- and sisters-in-law. She was a special aunt to many nieces and nephews and their families. Everyone who knew her loved her, and she loved them. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with family, especially around celebrations. Central throughout her life was the fellowship at Grace Baptist Church, founded by her father, Rev. Joseph Zajicek (Olga). Visitation at the WINDSOR CHAPEL ( South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Ave, (519)253-7236 Windsor ON.on Saturday May 23, 2026 from noon to 2 pm. Between 1 and 2 pm, anyone wishing to share memories of Doreen is welcome to do so. Private (family only) internment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to Grace Baptist Church would be appreciated.
