Obituary of Imelda Mognon
It is with profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of Imelda Mognon, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, on May 15, 2026, at 94 years of age.
Born on June 2, 1931, in San Martino di Lupari, Padova, Italy, she arrived in Canada in March 1962 to join her husband where together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. A caring and generous person, her life was a testament to her selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own, right until the very end.
Imelda welcomed everyone with open arms and a kind heart, making each person feel truly special with her warm smile and her accepting nature. A talented seamstress with 35 years of experience in Italy and Canada, her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Imelda was deeply devoted to her family, and they will always cherish her love, support, and the warmth of the home she created.
Imelda was the dear daughter of the late Domenico and Antonia Petrin and is reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, Felice Antonio Mognon. She was a loving mother to her sons, Ettore Mognon (Ursula) and Dino Mognon (Nancy) and a proud and adoring Nonna to her grandchildren: Daniel, Alexa, Anna-Christina, Alexander, and Thomas. She is predeceased by her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Walter Petrin (Yvonne), Giovanni Petrin (Maria), Angelo Petrin (Leonilde), Milvia Quattoni (Orio) and Egle Zambusi (Alvise). She is also pre-decased by her sisters-in-law, Maria Luisa Sidotti (Eugenio, deceased) and Orielle and is survived by her brother-in-law Luigi (Lucia). She will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close family and friends in Canada and in Italy.
Imelda lived her life with grace, compassion and an unwavering devotion to her family, facing life's challenges with strength and resilience. Her warmth, unconditional love, and nurturing spirit were the foundation of her family, and her legacy of kindness and strength will live on in all who knew her.
A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus, and Hotel Dieu - T2B Palliative Care Unit for their exceptional care and compassion for Imelda.
