Obituary of Peter 'Pete" Simone

PETER “Pete” SIMONE

May 8, 1937 – May 5, 2026

Peter passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, just shy of his 89^th birthday. Loving husband for 68 years of Annette (nee Beneteau).  Dear father of Pat, the late James (January 2026) and his wife Wendy of Edmonton, and Ron and his wife Ann Marie of Niagara.

Cherished Grandpa of Greg (Erika) Mancina, and Kristen, Lauren (Sam), Kyra (Greg), and Teri (Evan) Simone.

Survived by his siblings Theresa (Matt 2003) Cristofaro, Alfred (Judy), John (Valerie 2025), Mary Policella, Jeanette Incitti (Marcel Renaud), Dan (Marilyn), Denise (Ralph) Orsi, Lucy (Andy) Schmidt. Dear brother-in-law of Dorothy (Albert 2024) Simone and Dorothy (Pat 2021) Endo. Predeceased by brother Tony and Ruth Anne (1996) and Simone family nephews Jeffrey, Michael, John, and niece Cynthia. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

In his full and rich life, Peter was a skilled carpenter, volunteer umpire, church reader (St. Joseph Church), teacher (Western Secondary), home inspector, mentor, and loyal friend. He loved country and Irish music, travelling, watching hockey and baseball, and gathering with family. His kind demeanour and sense of humour endeared him to many friends.

As per Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Ave., Windsor (519-253-7236) on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9399 Townline Road, River Canard on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund.
