Obituary of Jan Ecker

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on May 2, 2026, at the age of 76. Jan was the former spouse and dear friend of Larry Ecker (2020), and special friend to John. She was a devoted and beloved mother to Larry Ecker (Jana) and Karen Mangham (Chris). Proud and loving grandmother to Kayla, Charlie (Sara), Bradley, and Teddy.

Jan is now reunited in heaven with her treasured parents, Vera and Percy Haines; her dear sisters, Debbie Hugall and Marg Kramer (Al); and her many beloved pets, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister Christine Coss (Gord); her brothers Steve Hugall (Christine) and Bill Hugall (Cheryl); and her sister-in-law Brenda Zuccato (Ron). She will also be fondly missed by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Jan retired from Union Gas, where she was known for her strong work ethic and loyalty. Outside of work, she had a profound love for animals and shared her life with many cherished companions over the years.

Jan will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her for her warm and loving heart, her contagious smile that could brighten any room, and the meaningful impact she had on everyone she met.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff at Brouillette Manor and to the Palliative Care Team at Windsor Regional Hospital - Met Campus for their exceptional care and kindness.

At Jan’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME - BANWELL CHAPEL, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7235) on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 3:00 pm until Jan’s Celebration of Life at 5:00 pm in the Chapel. Family and friends are asked to join directly at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens (1805 Highway 3, Oldcastle) on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1 pm for the committal service where Jan will be placed in her final resting place.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jan may be made to the Windsor Essex County Humane Society. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com
