Obituary of Walter Friedl

Passed away surrounded by his loving family on April 27, 2026 at the age of 93. Predeceased by Virginia his beloved wife of 61 years. Cherished father to Linda McCallum (David), Dr. Walter (Brenda), Michael (Jennifer), Mary Dowell (Doug) and Paul (Bin).

Proud grandfather to Chris McCallum (Jodie), Mary McNeill (Brad), Dr. Warren (Megan) and Dr. Zachary Friedl. Nicole Thibert (Stephen), and Justin Friedl (Angelica) and Kathryn and Jonathan Dowell.

Great grandfather to Hailey and Emily McCallum, Camille and Conrad Friedl, Desmond McNeill, Liam and Owen Thibert and Ryan Friedl.

Predeceased by parents Max and Elizabeth Friedl and siblings Max Friedl (Ruth) and Elizabeth Anderson (Roger).

He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Walter was a long-time manager at Mason’s Brokerage/ Mendelssohn-Commercial/ Livingston International. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of The Atonement Church. He was an active member of the parish, where he took great pleasure in singing in the choir and spent many years coordinating the maintenance team, among his many other contributions.

Visiting will take place at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Chapel 11677 Tecumseh Road E on Friday May 1, 2026 from 2-4 and 7-9 . Parish Prayers at 3:30pm. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of The Atonement Church (2940 Forest Glade Dr.) on Saturday May 2, 2026 at 10am. Entombment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. In kindness, donations may be made in memory of Walter to the Windsor Regional Hospital - Stroke Program.
