Obituary of Hermann Marlovits
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Hermann Marlovits on April 18, 2026 at the age of 79. Husband to the late Rose (2021). Loving Dad to Mike (Christine), Ed (Marina), and Jason (Megan). Beloved Opa to Alyssa, Vienna, Matteus, Luke, Ryan, Sean, Elena(2006), Krystle, and Brandon. Great-Opa to Damien and Juliet, and Liam and Carson. Survived by his sister Maria (Stefan) Balaskovics, of Austria, brother-in-law, Ivica (Ljiljana) Jakoplic and brother-in-law Joso (Fanika (1995)) Balenovic. Reunited with his parents Michael and Maria, his brother Michael, along with the aforementioned and his in-laws, Eduard and Stefanija Jakoplic and brother-in-law, Joe Jakoplic. He will forever be missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. Hermann was born in Burgenland, Austria on July 2, 1946, he came to Canada in 1965 and lived in Winnipeg, eventually settling in Windsor in 1969. Hermann retired from National Auto Radiator as a die setter and union rep (Local 195). Hermann loved to spend time in Ipperwash Beach, where his family and Kumovi Mahovlich built their cottages, side by side, in 1987. From May to November, Hermann enjoyed his weekends and time at the cottage with his family, the Mahovlich and Palajsa families and the "Warriors." He was a die-hard soccer fan who turned his love of soccer into proudly coaching the Dynamo Boys for many years. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all of Hermann's doctors, nurses and PSWs over the last year, for their patience, kindness and compassionate care.
A visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519-253-7234) on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In memory of Hermann, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundations or CNSC Windsor Croatia Soccer Club.
