Obituary of Frederick Squires
Frederick Joseph Squires passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026, with his loving wife Dolores by his side, at the age of 72. Fred faced life with quiet strength, kindness, and a gentle spirit that never went unnoticed.
Fred and Dolores (nee Pittman) shared a life built on love, laughter, and countless memories. He was a caring and proud father to Neil and Mark Squires, and a loving stepfather to Tamara Runco (Tony), Trevor Dobbs, and Catherine Lounsbury (Cory). He took great joy in his role as a grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Fred was a beloved brother to Catherine (late Victor), Rosalind, Tina (Glen), Beverley (Guy), and the late Judy (Max), as well as Richard (Cathy) and Frances (Sandra). He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Dorothy (Jim), Jacqueline, Angus (Peggy), Joanne (Martin), Sandra, the late Christopher (Debbie), Philip, and Raedarlene (Ramel). He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick and Mary Squires, and his parents-in-law Angus Pittman, Rae Catherine Pittman/Lavoie, and Armel Lavoie. Fred will be fondly remembered by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Anyone who knew Fred knew his love for motorcycles. In 2008, he proudly quit smoking so he could make his dream of owning his motorcycle come true, a testament to his determination and passion. He loved music, dancing, travelling on cruises, and, above all, spending time with family and friends. Fred truly enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and the people who surrounded him.
A hardworking man with a strong sense of pride in his career. Fred was a heavy equipment operator and a dedicated member of the IUOE Local 793 for over 30 years. He enjoyed the camaraderie of those he worked alongside. He spent 23 years working with MarKing Construction and then retired from Coco Paving after 7 years.
Fred was someone everyone loved and respected. He never spoke ill of others, and his kindness, fairness, and gentle nature left a lasting impression on all who met him. He will always be remembered as a kind soul and a true gentleman.
