Obituary of George Richard Tarcea

George Richard Tarcea  April 23, 1947 – March 24, 2026

It is with heartfelt and profound sadness that we share the peaceful passing of George Richard Tarcea on Tuesday March 24, 2026, at the age of 78. George was born in Windsor ON, on April 23, 1947, and was the beloved son of the late Sylvester (Sandy) and Catherine (nee Iatsko) Tarcea.

A graduate of W.D. Lowe High School, George found his calling in the Men’s clothing business working for 28 yrs at Brotherhoods Men’s wear on Ottawa street where he was sometimes affectionately called “The Mayor of Ottawa Street”. After Brotherhoods closed, George spent an additional 12 yrs at Moore’s clothing. He had the ability to look at any customer walking in and instantly tell them the size they needed. Many protested they were “not that big” but George was always right!

In the mid 90’s, George met the love of his life Nancy, and together they built an enormous, blended family where blood relationships were irrelevant. In the role of father to Nancy’s sons Tom and Andrew, George was a lead by example type of man whose character, morals and behaviour set an excellent example for his family to follow. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Nancy (Prince), his Sons Tom Nelson (Rachel), Andrew Nelson (Wendy). George was the proud and beloved Moishu of 4 Grandchildren, Renee (Mat), Tegan (Scott), Alexandra (Chris) and Wesley (Feleecia), as well as 10 great Grandchildren Charlie, Jacob, Camden, Colson, Farrah, Harlow, Noa, Abram, Edith and Lilliana. He was a brother-in-law and uncle to many nieces and nephews in the Prince Family, as well as his cousins and many dear friends.

George was extremely active in the Masonic order. As a 57-yr lifetime member of Harmony Lodge #579 Geroge was a master of the work, and mentor to many masons. He was a VW Master for Windsor District, and a 2-time Past Master of Harmony Lodge. He was a 33^rd degree Scottish rite, and Past Most Wise Sovereign of the Rose Croix. He was also a member of the Moramos Shrine Club where in addition to countless house of volunteer work at Children’s picnics and Bingo fundraisers, he played the Cymbals in the Oriental band joining in parades across the region. He spent many years as a young man working together with his dear friend Brian Delisle in the Windsor Chapter of the order of DeMolay as a chapter Dad as well as chairman of the advisory board and a mentor and inspiration to countless young men in our area and beyond. 

George was an avid Windsor Spitfire’s fan; he loved to exercise and held an active membership at the YMCA for many years. He was known to walk at least 10k steps daily, and he loved his shot of ice-cold Crown Royal at everyday at 4pm. He loved to spend time with family and friends, and he loved to have a good time!!

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many PSW’s, and RNA’s and RN’s as well as all staff at Brouillette Manor for their exceptional care and compassion during George’s final days.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Sunday, March 29, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m.  A Masonic Service will take place on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of Harmony Lodge #579 A.F. & A.M.  Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.
