Obituary of Antonio "Nino" De Zorzi
On Friday, March 20, 2026, Antonio passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Giovanna De Zorzi (née Sovran) for 62 years. Devoted father of Dante (Janet), Alissa (Ken), and Jamie (Manon). Cherished Nonno of Jack and Grace Howe, and Anthony, Dominic, and Isabelle De Zorzi. Antonio is predeceased by his parents, Dante and Regina De Zorzi. San Martino al Tagliamento, Italy. Dear brother of Alessandro (deceased) and Maria De Zorzi, and Luigi (deceased) and Ancilla De Zorzi. Brother‐in‐law to Mary Rose and John Ward, Gabriella Hobbis, and predeceased by George and Bertha Sovran. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Antonio was a hardworking and determined family man. He was a loyal friend who always made time to help others whenever he could. Known as the unofficial contractor for his children’s homes, he took great pride in overseeing projects and fixing anything that needed attention. His dedication to his family and friends was unwavering. A lifelong construction worker, Antonio could turn a simple car ride into a guided tour of the city’s history. He proudly pointed out the buildings he helped construct, sharing stories that revealed the mark he left on the community he called home.
Those welcomed into his home were met with warmth and generosity. Depending on the season, stepping into his backyard felt like visiting a farmers’ market. His fruit trees and expansive garden were his pride and joy, and he spent countless hours tending to them. Visitors rarely left without a basket of freshly picked, home‐grown produce. Antonio also cherished the years spent with his hunting group. Their annual trips were a source of joy, camaraderie, and adventure. His self‐taught skills in taxidermy reflected his determination to learn and master new things.
He was a proud member of the Fogolar Furlan Club of Windsor, where he joined fellow members in supporting and strengthening the community. Antonio passed on his deep pride in his Italian heritage to his children and grandchildren.
Antonio will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him
