Obituary of Judith Ann Hiegel
It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Judith (Judy) Ann Hiegel (née Joyce) who passed away surrounded by her family at Erie Shores Hospice Residential on Monday March 9, 2026 at the age of 72
She will forever be cherished as the loving mother of David (Stephanie) Glenn, Amy (Tim) Therrien, and Mark (Zoe) Hiegel.
Proud Gmama (Judizzle) of Samantha, Daphne, Nolan, Joshua, Charlotte and Amelia Beloved wife of Fred Hiegel.
Dear sister of Marjorie (Peter) Lawrie, and of the late Norris Joyce (survived by Linda). She will be deeply missed by her nephews Matt (Terra) and Mike (Anne), and her nieces Rebecca (Roger) and Laura (Ritchie). Judy also leaves behind many extended family members who loved her deeply. Their memories, support, and shared stories meant so much to her, and she held each of them close to her heart.
Judy will be remembered most for the immense love she held for her family. She had a remarkable gift for touching the lives of those she met—through her ability to listen with intention, connect with sincerity, and make people feel truly seen. Her creative energy filled every space she entered, drawing others in with her warmth, her spirit, and her unmistakable spark. Fiercely independent and incredibly strong, Judy lived her life with purpose and authenticity.
She leaves behind many passions and joys that painted the story of her life: the breathtaking sunsets of Maui, her love for dolphins, her uncanny ability to attract raccoons, and the pure happiness she found in time spent with family and friends. She had a beautiful talent for decorating a space, instinctively knowing how to make a room feel complete, inviting, and full of life.
We are truly grateful for the incredible care and compassion from her oncology team at the Windsor Cancer Centre as well as the Erie Shores Hospice team
Though she has left our side, her light remains—carried in every sunset she adored, every moment of joy she inspired, and every heart forever changed by her presence.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
