Obituary of Luigi Salvi

It is with profound sadness that the family of Luigi Salvi announces his peaceful passing at the age of 94, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Luigi was the devoted husband of the late Anna (nee Suardi-Acquaroli, 2023), with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He will be dearly missed by his three daughters: Manuela Brisebois (Raymond), Manola Salvi (Michael LaFontaine), and Serena Hillman (Darren). He was the proud Nonno of Eric Brisebois (Megan), Jessica Coughlin (Adam), and Steffan Brisebois (Allison), and an adoring Bis-Nonno to Anna, Lucy, Charlotte, Raymond, Jack, Michael, Henry, and Vivienne. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Bobby, the Maltese he and Anna brought home after a winter in Florida.

Born in Albino, Italy, on February 7, 1932, to the late Celeste (1969) and Giacomina (1978) Salvi, Luigi was also predeceased by his brother, Lucio (1947).

Dad began his career in his father’s foundry in Italy before moving to Switzerland and France.

Dad was very proud to have worked at Boeing while in France working on the fuselage for the first European rocket. In July 1964, he and mom immigrated to Canada with Manuela and Manola, crossing the Atlantic on the Cunard RMS. Carmania. After settling in Montreal, where their third daughter, Serena, was born, the family moved to Windsor, Ontario. Dad enjoyed a respected career at Arvid Machine Tool, traveling the world until his retirement. He was a talented man with a unique vision and a deep appreciation for food, wine, art, and music.

Fascinated by technology and new cultures, dad remained active on social media to keep in touch with family and friends globally. He and mom traveled extensively across Asia, South America, and Europe, explored Canada and all 50 U.S. states in their motorhome well into their 80s. An avid soccer player in his youth, he remained a passionate fan of Atalanta and Milan. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hand-forging wrought iron and cherished every moment spent with his family and Bobby.

Our family extends sincere gratitude to the staff at the Ouellette Campus 4th floor CCU, especially nurses Natasha and Mackenzie, Dr. Saad, Doctor’s assistant Jessica, Dr. Bagherli, Dr. Rajan, Dr. J. Cavers and the staff at Leamington Memorial Hospital along with Tamimi Pharmacy for their compassionate care of dad.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Ave, 519-253-7236, on Thursday March 12th, 2026, from 11:00am until the time of family eulogies at 1:00pm. A procession will then take place to St. Alphonsus Church (85 Park St E, Windsor, ON) for the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm. Cremation to follow.

Condolences and memories may be shared at www.windsorchapel.com. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Windsor Regional Hospital - Cancer Centre would be greatly appreciated by the family.
