Obituary of Gerald Edward Bray
Gerald passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving this world with the same quiet strength and dignity that defined his life. He is lovingly reunited with his cherished wife of 45 years, Therese (née Alarcon) (2001), with whom he shared many beautiful years of dancing, laughter, and devoted companionship.
Cherished father of Jerry (Charity), Laurie, Michelle Dingman (Jude), Allison Bray (Dan Gauvin), Jamie (Dale), and Jason. Proud Grandpa (Papa) to Jodi, Sara, Kristen, Ryan, Martin, Jude, Serena, Cody, Christian, Aidan (2025), and Bethany. Proud great-grandpa of Sophie, Hannah, William, Sloane, and Mia.
Gerald is predeceased by his parents, Roy (1988) and Laura (1994), his brothers Orval (Rose) and Raymond (Shirley), as well as his parents-in-law, Julio (1961) and Marie (1965) Alarcon. He is survived by his dear siblings Alice (late William) and Lawrence (Barbara), and sister-in-law Janet McCarron (Edward). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
A man of quiet strength and steady devotion, Gerald retired from Chrysler after 44 years of dedicated service. Away from work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including dancing with Therese, playing cards, and staying active through the sports he loved. He enjoyed bowling with the Chrysler League, watching hockey and golf, and playing baseball. It was during a baseball game that he first noticed his future wife. She was watching from the sidelines when a ball rolled to her feet, and he couldn’t help but notice her legs. An unforgettable moment that sparked their lifelong story.
In his younger years, Gerald also showed his determination and spirit as an accomplished boxer. A dedicated community member, Gerald was proud to be part of the Knights of Columbus and became well known as a top raffle-ticket seller.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Chartwell - Oak Park Terrace and Brouillette Manor, as well as all the PSWs through Bayshore, Home Instead and St. Elizabeth for the kindness and care shown to Gerald in his later years.
