Obituary of Dorothy Vendrasco (nee Masse)

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 17, 2026, at the age of 103. Reunited with her beloved husband, Vincent (2005). Cherished mother of Dennis (Dianne), Jim (Martha), Judy Birch (George), Dorothy “Dee” D’Angelo (John) and Tony (Cathy). Devoted grandmother of Bob (Steve), Katie, Tony, Andrew (Heather), Stephanie, Danny (Barbara), Cory (Kelsey), Melissa (Matthew), Jessica (Shawn), Vince and Vanessa (Christian). Proud great-grandmother of Graham, Mack, Lola, Zoey, Owyn, Nate, Lucy, Ruby and Rocco. Dear sister of Ruth Applegate. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Ernestine (nee Renaud) and many brothers and sisters. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends from Devonshire Retirement Home.

Dorothy bowled faithfully until the age of 96, playing in three leagues and embracing every moment with energy and joy. She had a gift for creating things with her hands, pouring love into every crocheted blanket and every piece of needlepoint she crafted. Her creations weren’t just handiwork; they were little pieces of her heart.

A true people-person, Dorothy cherished her card leagues and the friendships she made along the way. She loved meeting new faces and always welcomed others with her warm, easy smile.

Her home was a place of comfort, filled with the sweet smell of canning, homemade jams, and fresh baking. No one ever left her house hungry; she made sure of it, always pressing a snack or treat into your hands with gentle insistence.

Dorothy had a playful spirit and loved to joke, bringing laughter wherever she went. But beneath the humour was a deep, steady kindness. She made sure that everyone she cared about knew, without a doubt, that they were truly loved.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare - Palliative Care for all their dedicated care and compassion shown to Dorothy and her entire family.

At Dorothy’s request, a private family service and cremation have taken place. Arrangements entrusted to WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME - BANWELL CHAPEL (519-253-7235). In kindness, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to Transition to Betterness. Online condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com
