Obituary of Eileen Ryan

Ryan- Eileen Jane (nee Halpin) (Greguol)

1934-2026

With hearts filled with love and gratitude, we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose life was defined by her faith and unwavering love for her family. She was called home on her 92nd birthday, symbolizing a life beautifully completed, aligning the day of her earthly birth to the day of her eternal rebirth.

Eileen’s love spanned generations, and her legacy lives on in the lives of her children and her adored 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Eileen was married to Terry Ryan, the father of her five children for 32 years. She was a cherished mother and grandmother to Michael Ryan, his wife Lisa and their adult children Terry (Jessica), Jayme (Mike) and Christopher (Zoe). Kathleen Vossen, husband Michael and their adult children Caylen (Lindsey), Everett (Julia) and Mya. Jacquelyn Iorio, husband Robert and their adult children Jennifer (Darin), Andrew (Kelly) and Venessa (Jase). Nora Mallat, her husband Blaine and their adult children Blake (Danna), Ryan (Sonja) and Amanda. Sean Ryan, his wife Amy and their adult children Liam (Alayna), Aidan, Keely and Jack. She took tremendous joy in the lives of her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jonah, Jaxson, Melina, Penelope, Ray, Maro, Isabelle, Cooper-June, Teddy, Pearl, Lainey and Beckett.

Eileen was the daughter of James and Cecilia Halpin and sister to Rosemarie and Terence. She is survived by her brother Jim and his wife, Lee Ann Halpin. Her childhood was spent in the Dawson Road area of Riverside and Eileen attended St. Joseph’s High School in Windsor. She then went on to graduate with honours from Secretarial School. In her career she worked as a stenographer in the Buhl Building in Detroit for five years before beginning her family and supporting her husband’s career transition into Commercial Art. Returning to her own career after her family grew, Eileen worked in the offices of St. Gregory Parish and General Motors, and as an Executive Assistant at Roynat Financial and Reko Tool. She took great pride in the time she spent designing and teaching Word Processing courses at St. Clair College.

Eileen was defined by an eye for beauty, a devotion to detail, and a deep respect for precision, order, and work done well. Throughout her life, she generously imparted her knowledge and skills to her family. An expert seamstress and bridge player, she also enjoyed the water, travel, camping, cooking, music, dancing, and was an avid reader. Above all, the greatest joy of her life was her family. She was deeply present and genuinely interested in the chapters of all of their lives, offering ongoing support, insight and encouragement. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren each held a very precious place in her heart, and she simply loved to watch them learn and grow.

Eileen will also be missed by her friends and the staff at St. Clair Beach Chartwell. A heartfelt thank you to the doctors, and in particular to the nursing staff at WRH Ouellette Campus (Neurology) for their kindness, professional care and compassion.
