Obituary of Richard Alfred McNorton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Alfred McNorton, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on February 7, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on February 19, 1953, in Windsor, Ontario, Richard lived a life that was marked by love, creativity, and a profound dedication to his family and friends.

Richard was the cherished son of Alfred and Jeanette McNorton, who instilled in him the values of kindness, generosity, and hard work. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law Patricia McNorton and his niece Krista McNorton, both of whom held a special place in his heart.

Throughout his life, Richard was a devoted father to his three children: Michelle Poitras (Mario), Erica McNorton (John Rivait), and Craig McNorton, all of whom reside in Windsor, ON. His love extended to his grandchildren, Starlet Lalonde and Liam McNorton-Gerard, who brought immense joy and pride to his life.

Richard was a skilled carpenter, self-employed for 40 years, and took great pride in his work. His craftsmanship was not only a profession but a true passion that he carried with him through the years. Beyond his work, Richard had many hobbies and interests. He was known for his love of music, which brought him great joy. Richard also enjoyed riding and building motorcycles, a hobby that showcased his creativity and craftsmanship.

Richard was a laid-back and calm individual, known for his quiet demeanor and kind heart. He had a unique ability to make those around him feel at ease and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved his family and animals, especially his cat Maxwell, he often put the needs of others before his own.

He is survived by his siblings, Edward McNorton, Judy Adam (Mike), Mike McNorton (Michelle Whaling-McNorton), and Gary McNorton (Paula), along with many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Diabetes Foundation. Cremation has taken place.
