Obituary of Carl Kearns

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Kearns. He was born and raised in the small farming community of Merlin, ON. The son of Mark Kearns and Maureen Hoy and son-in-law of Tony Ouellette  and Irene (Cloutier). Carl is survived by his wife of 53 years Janice Ouellette, sons Mark and Paul (Tiffany) and is the cherished papa of Charlie and Henry.

He is also survived by his brother Larry (Denise) and his sisters in law Pat Kern (Marshall) and Cyndy Ouellette (the late Mark) as well as many nieces and nephews.

Carl taught for the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board for 33 years. His gift of music was shared with many, from his children and grandchildren, students, many friends, family and colleagues. His Catholic faith guided him in his music ministry which spanned over 45 years from leading choirs to entertaining seniors.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held at the Windsor Chapel Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3048 Dougall Ave., (519-253-7236) from 2 - 4pm & 7 - 9pm on Tuesday, January 13. Parish prayers will be held at 8:30pm.  Memorial Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of Assumption Church on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations to Street Help and the Downtown Mission would be greatly appreciated.
