Obituary of Cesidio "Joe" Macari
With broken hearts we announce the passing of Cesidio (Joe) Macari, husband, father, nonno. His wife, Del (nee Gaetz) of 63 years will cherish their life together in her heart forever. His daughters MaryAnn (Rob) Fazekas, Michelle (Frank) Moore and Lisa Forte were always his pride and joy as well as his grandchildren Matthew (Ashley), Daniel, Jessica (Jordan), Michaela (Michael), Shannon, Ava and Madeline. Joe was blessed to have two great grandchildren Casey and Levi who always brought a smile to their Nonno’s face.
He is predeceased by his father Gaetano Macari and mother Maria (nee Socci) and his siblings Antonio, Luciano, Donato, Romana and Michele.
His parents had him immigrate to North America from Settifrati, Italy on the SS Andrea Doria at the age of 16 to make a good life for himself. He provided for his family working for Harris Rebar as an iron worker and foreman for most of his adult life until he retired at the age of 65.
Besides his love for his family, he had a passion for gardening and wine making. He could often be found in his garden planting his garlic, tying up his tomatoes and carrying for his fig tree. He loved biking and walking the beaches in Grand Bend, the Pinery and Florida with his wife. We will miss him immensely. A special thank you to Dr. Cassidy, Kristina (nurse practitioner), Bianca (nurse) and the PSWs who helped with great compassion.
