Obituary of Cynthia "Cindy" Carlesimo (nee Sailler)
On January 3, 2026 Cindy passed away with her loving daughters at her side following a brief battle with cancer. Loving and devoted wife to Sam (predeceased) for 44 years. Dedicated mother to Michelle (Paul Durocher) and Teresa (Michael Di Risio). She found immense joy in her role as a grandmother to Luna Carlesimo-Di Risio. Survived by her cherished siblings Jack, Scott, Cathy, Mark (Sharon), and Kurt (Julie) and predeceased by Brett Sailler. She will be missed by her in-laws Luisa (the late Pio) DiMario, Marcella (the late Pietro) Nardone, and the late Bruno Carlesimo (Ivana Talerico) as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She graduated from Dondero HS in Royal Oak, MI, and went on to work as a photographer and converting microfilm before briefly moving to Aspen, CO. Persuaded to return to Michigan by her future husband Sam, Cindy would later become a permanent resident of Windsor.
She worked for Toys R Us for close to 30 years, beginning as a cashier and working her way up to store Director by the time of her retirement. She was known and loved for her big personality and sense of humour.
Her greatest joy was being a mother and later a grandmother. She nurtured her relationship with her daughters creating a strong, life-long bond. After racing cars in her youth she preserved her love of muscle cars and was still known for having a lead foot. She also found joy in gardening and flowers, was always creative with an eye for design, and especially loved spending time with her family.
Family and friends will be received at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd. E 519-253-7234) on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11am until the time of funeral service at 1pm. Interment to follow at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Donations in Cindy’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
