It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Ivan Kireta, aged 83, who was born on July 21, 1942, in Hrvatsko Selo, Croatia, and peacefully departed this life on December 30, 2025, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Born to the late Josip and Eva Kireta, he grew up in Croatia surrounded by family and tradition. He is predeceased by his beloved sisters, Jana and Eva, and his brother Franjo, whose memories he carried with him always.

Ivan Kireta will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Slavka Kireta, with whom he shared a life of dedication and resilience for 60 years. Together they raised two sons, Zlatko Kireta (Joanne) and Josip Kireta, who will forever hold his guidance and example in their hearts.

He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather, leaving behind treasured memories for his grandchildren: Caitlyn (Brock), Zachary (Kaitlyn), Oliva (Ash), and Calvin (Mia) Kireta. His legacy of love, kindness, and family values will live on through them.

Ivan Kireta’s life was defined by hard work, perseverance, and devotion to his family. Those who knew him will remember his warmth, his humor, and the strength of character that shaped all who had the privilege of being part of his life.

He will be profoundly missed and forever loved.

Visiting at the Windsor Chapel (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E (519)253-7234 on Sunday January 4, 2026 from 2 to 5pm and 7 to 9pm. Prayers Sunday at 7pm followed by K of C prayers.

Funeral services on Monday January 5, 2026 at 9:15am from the funeral home then to St. Francis of Assisi (Croatian) Church for funeral mass at 10am, with interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate his remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi building fund in his memory.
