Obituary of Wayne Wilkes

Passed away peacefully on December 11th 2025 at the age of 80. Wayne is reunited with his loving wife Barbara. Proud father to Jennifer Wilkes and father-in-law to Jeffery Temple. Caring grandfather to Mason and Charley (cherished pomski). Son predeceased by both parents Elsie and Frederick Wilkes.(Windsor) Wayne is predeceased by his sister Marilyn (late Bob), and survived by his siblings Barbara (late Peter), Pat (late Ed), Gaye (late Jim), and Dennis Wilkes. He will be missed dearly by many nieces, nephews and great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Wayne was an avid car enthusiast his whole life. He thoroughly enjoyed working on old cars, attending local car shows and even attending the raceways of old Checker Flag and recently Grand Bend. He worked in the auto industry as a welder/fitter for the majority of his career. His skill was in making automation electrical control panels to run the lines for Chryslers, General Motors, Fords, Lamb Technologies and Others with JIC Electric (Old Castle). Retiring at 61yrs he always loved to cook and bake, often sharing his goodies with his loved ones and family. His usual days consisted of waking early in the morning and driving down to Dieppe Gardens parking at the river, drinking his coffee and watching the sun come up and then attending to the chores of each day. Enjoyed his yard work, washing his car or working on his truck. He especially liked to bike ride, work out on his home Total-Gym equipment, all shopping and for night time fun attending Caesars Windsor Shows. Sundays were always special as Wayne had a perpetual date for breakfast with his daughter and occasionally Jeff and Mason attended for special celebrations.

While he prided himself on his independence, Wayne was a man who knew the value of family and a few close friends. (The McDonalds Morning Bunch at Dougall Avenue and the Downtown locations). Holiday meals were fun, consistent and always a team effort. Wayne brought the sweet potatoes, stuffing and desert of course. He'd show up early to watch movies with everyone while dinner was being prepared. He was also a true handyman, self-taught and able to fix most anything just like his predeceased father Fred. Happy to help others when needed, especially his sister Gaye who recently moved back to the area to be closer to family. He enjoyed time and special meals with family and most recently the Wilkes family reunion held this past year. He loved and appreciated attending the theatre with family to support his nephew Jason's endeavors. The constant though, at every point, was the positive impact and memories he left behind.
