I worked with Russel at Capilano University. His friendly nature always made the work light no matter the situation. His presence was missed when he moved east.

I met Russell at the Center for the Arts, Downtown Campus in Windsor. He was simply the coolest person ever! I was impressed with his knowledge of music, and enjoyed stories of his wife and children. Russell was so proud of his family. He will be missed by many. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Miss you dearly my friend. Russ, you are one of the rarest; a true sweet heart — always wise and warm-hearted — you showed a generosity of kindness and acceptance to all.
I’m honoured and blessed to call you my brother, and to have created such cherished memories together — at work & play, and grooving to the music! You are an enduring example of a true gentle man, full of peace — who never failed to share your bright light with others :)
Sending strength and deepest condolences to Dayna, William and Jack; to Pat and Greg and the whole Cunningham clan; and all the friends, like family, who will miss him tremendously.
Love you Russ. Rest in peaceful harmony my friend — your joyful vibrations will live on in us all, as we continue to let your record play.
Sheldon

I had the pleasure of working with Russell at the Chatham campus. Often our conversations would start with turn your computer off and restart it.... he was very patient with us non-technology people. What I remember most from his time here was his excitement of living in Kingsville and his family. He talked about his boys and how transferring to the Windsor campus would be helpful. I can't imagine how difficult the last year has been. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sending my heartfelt condolences.

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my colleague and friend, Russell Cunningham. During our time working together at St. Clair College Downtown Campus, we shared many wonderful moments — from coffee breaks and conversations about photography, music, and sports, to laughter and stories that brightened our days.
Russell’s warmth, humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Rest in peace, dear friend. Your memory will live on in our hearts.

With deepest sympathy to the Cunningham family.
We have so many memories of Russell from the time he was three years old growing up with the Amiens kids. They all played together and looked out for one another. I so clearly remember Russell and Patrick riding their scooters up and down the street all day at three years old. And then learning how to ride their two wheelers the summer they turned four. These are a few pictures from 1989, 1990, and the whole gang in the summer of 1992. The last few years we have watched Russell and Dayna raising their own sweet kids right back here on Amiens.
Rest with the angels Russell.

A truly remarkable man, loving, patient and generous, he believed the best in me and gave his support during an especially challenging time in my life in Vancouver. I witnessed how deeply committed and loving he was to his equally wonderful family, Dayna, William, Jack and Henry, whose love and strength reflect his own. I’ll really miss you Russ, as I'm sure everyone who was fortunate enough to know you. I hope William and Jack will always know how special a person their dad was.

Boundless love, appreciation and respect for music. A big smile and a relatable story about a favourite song. Co-founder of Pacific Rhythm, something that’s defined our community’s listening and leisure for the last 10 years and counting. A man dedicated to his family. Those are my memories of Russell. Take care and rest easy <3

Russ was such an awesome dude. I remember when we first met at June Records in Toronto a decade ago. You loved music so much and always treated me as an equal even though I was a young and naive budding music head. I’m so glad I lived in a period of when you were involved with Pacific Rhythm, it was a great inspiration and validation for me to pursue what I wanted to do. I remember having so much fun hanging out with you at Waseem’s house and catching up even though we haven’t seen each other in so long. You’re a great dude and your legacy will live on through the rest of us. Rest easy pal xoxo
