Obituary of Vernon Joseph Carter

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Vernon Joseph Carter, who passed away peacefully at Windsor Regional Hospital - Ouellette Campus on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the age of 88.

Beloved husband of the late Germaine Carter (née Labbé).

Dear father of Paul (Judy), Edmond (Lori), the late David (survived by Patty), and Michael (Vicki).

Cherished grandfather of eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

Loving brother of Jim (Margaret), Ron, late Gary, Laurine (Tom) Archibald, and Brenda (late Tom) Pumfrey.

He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Vernon will be remembered for his many years working at General Motors, his passion for hockey-especially as a devoted fan of the Chicago Blackhawks-and his deep love for time spent with family.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Atonement Church on Tuesday October 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery.

Donations made in memory of Vernon to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
