On behalf of the Retired Women Teachers of Ontario, Windsor-Essex Branch, we send our deepest condolences to Millie's family and friends. She was a dedicated teacher and loved her students immensely. She enjoyed her retirement since 1986 and was a big part of our RWTO group. Our members will miss her greatly. We know in recent years she wasn't able to attend our social events, but we know she looked forward to that Newsletter and catching up on all the happenings within our branch. Millie was my aunt. Her husband George was my father’s brother. She learned and spoke excellent Polish, taking the time to learn it just so she could communicate with the rest of our family. Although we lost touch after George’s passing, I have always remembered her as a strict but fair, generous, and truly wonderful individual. Rest in peace, Millie.

Mille was an amazing and extraordinary woman who deeply touched the lives of those who had the privilege of being close to her. I was blessed to have Millie in my life and call her my best friend. Our conversations were a minimum of one hour and I always left our interactions feeling inspired and happy, I will miss those conversations more than I can express with words. The loss is truly ours because Millie lived a wonderful life filled with such great experiences and adventures that we can all hope to be so blessed to have. When she would say “I’m doing the best I can” it was met with the effort that has inspired me to always do the best I can and like I would tell her, your simple yet wise slogan has now passed through another generation because I use it with my children. Mille I will miss you every day and me and my family thank God for all the years we had together.

Anita, this is Susan Hamelin, Millie's friend. It has been my pleasure to hear about your family and children. Millie was very proud of their schooling. Here is to a life well lived, and a to a strong independent woman that I had the pleasure of knowing as well.

I grew up a few doors down from Millie and even though I was younger I knew the family.. In 1948 a group of 10 Polish young men settled on our street coming from war torn Europe ….living in several different rooming houses but always sticking together. Eventually these young men married young girls of Polish Canadian heritage…as this was a basically ethnic area. Millie married George and a few years later I married Wiesław….we all became family. Over the years we had reunions and had good times together even though we created new lives. Sometimes moving away from Windsor…but always keeping in touch. Millie will be sadly missed but she lived a good and long life. She has gone to meet George…her loving husband…may she rest in peace!
