Obituary of John Russ

Peacefully passed away at the age of 71 with his family by his side. Beloved husband to Debra for 44 years. Proud and loving father of Brad and Kevin. Brother and closest friend, to Lorne Russ. John will be fondly remembered, and deeply missed, by his many brothers and sisters in law Pat and Bill Champagne, Pauline and Skip Bump, Mary-Jane Masse, Ronnie Janisse, and Laurette Janisse (the late Paul). John is reunited with his parents John and Rose. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

John worked as a correctional officer for many decades, and was proud of his job and his work that he did. He approached everything in life with his trademark gentleness, compassion, and warmth. He was the type of person that could talk to anyone; he was just that friendly. For many years, John competed in running as a track athlete, something which he was so passionate about, and well known for.

Though John has passed, the love that he had for his family, friends, and all whose life he impacted will continue on.

Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Central Chapel (1700 Tecumseh Rd E - 519-253-7234) on Thursday September 18th 2025 from 2pm-5pm, and 7pm-9pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Transition to Betterness.
