Obituary of Madeleine Elizabeth Viger

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Madeleine “Tootsie” Elizabeth Viger (nee Thibodeau), surrounded by family at the age of 88. Loving mother to Claudette (Leon) and Mark, caring Meme to Nicole (Chris), and dear great-Meme to Maddy and Grace. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Madeleine, her siblings Emma, Jeanne, Rose, Jackie, Thelma, Sunny and Tom. She will be deeply missed by her many nieces and nephews. Tootsie was the past president of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 578 and the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 261. She worked for many years as a registered nurse, including in California after graduating from Hotel Dieu Hospital Class of 1959. She was a volunteer for the Easter Seals and the Holy Rosary church. Anyone who knew Tootsie knew that she was an incredibly caring and compassionate person, and she will be missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Banwell Chapel (11677 Tecumseh Rd. E, 519 253-7235) on Friday August 1st, 2025 from 4pm until time of the Legion service at 7pm, with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
