Obituary of Betty Doreen Carr
In Loving Memory
Betty Doreen Carr
January 13, 1939 - July 17, 2025
"Forever in our hearts"
With deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty Doreen Carr, who left us peacefully at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born on January 13, 1939, Betty lived a life filled with grace, resilience, and warmth. She was a woman of quiet strength, endless compassion, and unwavering loyalty - a true matriarch who brought people together with kindness and heart.
Betty had two great loves outside of her family: baseball, and gardening. Spring always found her outside, coaxing life from the soil with patient hands and a gentle spirit. When summer rolled around, you could find her cheering on her favorite Detroit Tigers with unwavering passion. She loved the game for its beauty, much like the garden she so lovingly tended.
She faced life's challenges with grace, including her long journey with dementia. Even as memory faded, her warmth, humor, and deep love for family remained. Her smile could light up a room, and her presence offered quiet reassurance, even in her final days.
Betty is deeply missed by her children Alan Carr (Dollie Razon) and Yvonne (Frank) Sciacca, her grandchildren Brandon Carr (Adriana Cardona), Sarah Adams (Jeffrey Lopiccolo), her friend Brenda Roehler, Margaret Carr-Stakov, her sister Sheila King, her niece Leslie Chapman, her brother-in law David Carr and the extended family members in England, all were touched by her care, wisdom, and infectious laughter. She was predeceased by her father Fred Jellis, her mother Phyllis Fountain (Andy Anderson), her brother Peter Jellis (Joyce) and her one true love, her husband George Carr. We find comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
A Memorial Visitation in Betty’s honour with be held Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 6 pm until 9 pm with prayers at 8 pm, at Windsor Chapel - Banwell Location (11677 Tecumseh Road, East, Windsor, ON). Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, helping to support families and fund research for those living with dementia.
“Though her mind forgot, her heart remembered. And so, will ours.”
Rest in peace, Betty. May the gardens be forever in bloom, Coronation street be on at 7pm and the ball games always go into extra innings.
