Obituary of Thomas Becksmith

Passed away suddenly at Hotel Dieu at the age of 80 after a long battle with health issues. Born in England to Frederick Becksmith and Clair Major. Later immigrated to Canada in 1969. Tom was not afraid to work. He held many jobs as a driving teacher, a painter, bus driver, security guard, to name a few. He was a third degree Knights of Columbus with the #0861 Council of Our Lady of Atonement Church. He sang with the Men’s choir there for several years. And later also joined the Most Precious Blood church choir as well. Tom later moved to Cardinal Place in 2021 due to health. Made many friends there - he played cards, loved to garden and was quite a prankster. Although set in his ways, (loved his Tim Horton’s coffee) he was kind, generous, friendly and fun-loving. Many thanks to Cardinal Place staff in taking care of him and to the Hotel Dieu Hospital staff for his many visits. He will be missed. Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel) 1700 Tecumseh Rd E. (519-253-7234) on Thursday, July 3, 2025 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 4, 2025 at Most Precious Blood Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. As per Thomas wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral mass.
