Obituary of Anne Bennett
Anne Bennett
August 20, 1927 – June 19, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Bennett, who departed this life peacefully on June 19, 2025, just two months shy of her 98th birthday.
Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick Bennett in 1994, following more than 40 years of devoted marriage. She was a cherished mother, adored grandmother, and proud great-grandmother — lovingly known as "Baba."
She leaves behind her daughter Marilyn Lee (Norman) and stepson Tom Bennett (Laura). She was the beloved Baba to her grandchildren Sandra McGinniss (Vincent) and Trevor Lee (Marianne), and the deeply adored great-grandmother of Ava, Tyler, and Adalyn Lee, and Vanessa and Liam McGinniss.
Anne was a woman of enduring strength, sharp wit, and determination. A dedicated worker, she spent many years as a lead waitress in several of Windsor’s most beloved establishments, including Seaway Inn, Teutonia Club, Chicken Court, Top Hat, and Metropol. Her legacy of service and hospitality touched countless lives.
Outside of work, Anne found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an exceptional gardener, able to nurture life from even the humblest seed or stone. Alongside Fred, she raised budgies, canned fruits and vegetables with passion and precision, and once famously preserved blueberries on a Coleman stove during a family trip to Algonquin Park.
In later years, her dear friend Victor Kozachuk reintroduced Anne to the Ukrainian church, where she enjoyed making perogies and cabbage rolls along side many Ukrainian friends. Victor and Anne went to many summer festivals, spent dinners together, laughed together, enjoyed playing cards and traveling to see the Kozachuk family.
Special thank you to Lifetimes Retirement Home, especially Annette and the 3rd floor staff, Southwood Lakes Extendicare Huron Wing, Dr. Aoun and all of the wonderful 7th floor nurses at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan campus, and Dr. Pizzuti for all the years of wonderful care.
