Obituary of George Bernik
With great sadness and a sense of peace, we say goodbye to a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. George concluded his life’s journey on June 18, 2025 at the age of 69 years, following a period of declining health. He leaves behind his loving wife and soulmate Janet (Née Masaro) who will forever cherish their years together. George was a devoted and proud father of Brian (Lindsay), Annie (Brad) Sheardown and George Jr., and a loving grandfather to Addison, Everett, Nolan and Benson. George was predeceased by his parents Vinko and Anna Bernik. He was a beloved brother of John (Marta), Mark (Veronica), Mary Ann (Ted) Wypych, and Joan (Tom) Recchia, and dear brother-in-law of Barb (Dave) Willick, Rick (Charlene) Masaro, Carol (Rick) Martinello, Donna (Colin) Thompson, and Nancy Morand (John Hart). George will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
For nearly 40 years, George was a committed employee at Ford Motor Company, building a reputation for his professionalism and no-nonsense efficiency. Beyond his professional life, George poured his heart into his passions. He spent countless hours coaching his sons in baseball and hockey, providing unwavering support for his children’s various endeavours and instilling valuable life lessons along the way. A self-made carpenter, George took immense pride in the homes he built for his family and the countless projects he helped bring to life. He had a deep affection for vintage cars and was a die-hard fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Special thanks to his good friends Roy Tetler, Jack Niklas, Don Gelinas and Bob Ristovski for their support and companionship over the years.
