Obituary of Peter Sevo

With the greatest of sorrow we say good bye to a loving husband, Tata, Dida and Great Dida.  Always a huge smile and huge personality, Peter would bring light and laughter to every room he walked into. Peter 'Petar' Sevo passed away suddenly at home on June 18, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on December 15, 1945, in Biljane Yugoslavia, Peter’s life was marked by strength, resilience, and a deep love for his family.

Celebrating 55 years of marriage to his loving wife Stoja and partner who he cherished dearly.  Their door was always open and welcomed everyone into their home with an open heart with food and a shot of rakija.

Peter was a devoted father to Angie Sevo, Denny (Andora) Sevo, and Alenka (John) Avdoulos. He was a proud grandfather to all his "Sugar pies", Ariana, Stefan, Silena, Athena, Peter, Aedan, Kristina, and a loving great-grandfather to the late Xavier, who holds a special place in the family’s heart. Peter lived for his grandchildren and never shy to speak about how proud he was of them and often travelling long distances to attend their activities.  He also enjoyed his special moments playing with and being loved by Kya the dog. 

Peter was a cherished brother to Nikola (late Danica), Stephanie (Shawn), Dusan (Rebecca), George, and the late Mile (2018). He was also a dear brother-in-law to Anica (George) Pozder, and predeceased by Luca (surviving Maria), Stana (Zdravko), Jovan (surviving Rada), and Kosa (surviving Stevan). Loving nephew of Anica (late Atila) Futo.  Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.  He was the son of the late Jovo and Ljubica Sevo, and son in law of the late Marko and Bozica Pavic.

A skilled auto mechanic for many years, Peter was known for his tireless work ethic and steady hands. He took pride in his craft and worked hard to provide for his family, earning the respect and trust of those around him. He was very proud of achieving his mechanic license after coming to Canada at a very young age, overcoming challenges, learning English and even opening his own shop for 10 years.  A proud member of the Serbian community and Gracanica Church, Peter enjoyed many memories playing Bocce Ball at the Serbian Center with stories of epic matches and amazing throws.

Family gatherings were always legendary, enjoying big celebrations with his brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, friends and often strangers just walking by!  His generosity and big heart will be remembered forever! Peter’s legacy is one of quiet strength, loyalty, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a family that will continue to honor his memory and carry forward the values he lived by every day. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will take place at the Windsor Chapel - Banwell Location, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, on Sunday, June 22, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with vigil prayers at 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church, 1960 Meldrum Rd., Windsor, with Fr. Milorad Delic officiating and an interment to follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Church.
