Obituary of Thomas William Sorrell

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas William Sorrell Jr., who left us peacefully on June 16, 2025, in his hometown of Windsor, Ontario. Born on March 7, 1967, Thomas, also known by his friends and family as Tom or Tommy, was a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend whose laughter and spirit will be deeply missed.

Tom was the son of Tom Sorrell Sr. and Barbara Gillis. Growing up in Windsor, he developed a passion for sports, both as a player and an avid fan. He was a dedicated supporter of the Detroit Tigers, Boston Bruins, and Detroit Lions. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, bringing friends and family together for countless games. Tom also loved playing and babysitting his fur nephews Rocky and Hank who brought great companionship.

As a hardworking individual, Tom found fulfillment in his role as a Jitney Driver at KB Components, where he formed lasting bonds with colleagues.

In addition to his professional life, Tom cherished his personal relationships. He is survived by his beloved brother Jeff and sister-in-law Crystal, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Cherished father to Natasha and Riley. He was also a proud uncle to his nephew Cody and niece Meg, and her husband Joe. The love he shared with his family extended to his cousins, Shannon, Nicky, Tracie, Jodie, and many more. Tom had a special bond with his best friend of 33 years, Dave Tiedeman, and considered Jimmy Nolan and wife Kari his "brother from another mother." These relationships were the cornerstones of his life, and he took great joy in the time spent with loved ones.

While there will be no formal donations in his memory, the best tribute we can give Thomas is to remember his laughter, hard work, and passion for life. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
