Obituary of Rosalia Bonventre (née Flores)

Rosalia passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, she was 86 years old.

Beloved wife of the late Salvatore Bonventre, with whom she shared 48 wonderful years. Salvatore was the love of Rosalia’s life. Their marriage was a true partnership built on devotion, respect, and deep affection. Rosalia often spoke of him with tenderness and gratitude, and her heart never stopped missing him. Now, they are reunited once more; together again in peace. Devoted mother to Jim Bonventre (Paula) and Paul Bonventre (Diana). Rosalia was proud of her sons, whom she raised with strength, compassion, and unwavering love. Her guidance and support shaped their lives, and her deep bond with them was a source of great joy, comfort, and pride throughout her life. She also cherished her daughters-in-law, Paula and Diana, welcoming them warmly into the family. Their close and loving relationships brought her great happiness, and she considered them true daughters. Adored Nonna to Alicia Reid (Alex), Natalie Bonventre (Jesse), Cassandra Melnyk (Jordan), and Jordan Bonventre. Rosalia shared a deep and special bond with each of her grandchildren; offering them unconditional love, wisdom, and warmth. They were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in the people they have become. She was also lovingly known as Nonna Rosalia to her extended-great-grandchildren, who brought her much joy. Predeceased by her cherished parents, Paolo Flores and Francesca Flores. Rosalia held deep respect and love for her parents, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and family devotion. Their memory remained a guiding light in her life, and she carried their legacy with grace and pride. Dear sister of Anna Maniaci (Benny), Rosa Galante (Paolo), and Vito Flores (Sandy). Rosalia shared a lifelong bond of love, support, and laughter with her siblings. Their close relationship was a source of strength and comfort to her throughout her life. Rosalia is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, with whom she shared a special bond. She treated them with the same affection and care she gave her own children; offering love, guidance, and support that left a lasting impact on their lives.

Born in Sicily, Rosalia discovered her passion for sewing at a young age and became a trained seamstress in her homeland. Her talent and creativity shone brightly, especially in the garments she lovingly crafted for her family. She became known in the community for her remarkable ability to recreate fashionable outfits from magazine photos, and she turned this gift into a successful career at the General Motors Trim Plant, sewing upholstery for their high-end vehicles. Rosalia was also an exceptional cook who found great joy in preparing meals for her loved ones. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her family, who meant everything to her.

Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home - Central Chapel, 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E., on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by entombment at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Following the entombment, family and friends are invited to join in a luncheon at the Caboto Club to celebrate Rosalia’s life, share memories, and offer support to one another. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
