Obituary of Bruce Frederick Dix
October 30, 1939 - April 12, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Bruce passed into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on April 12, 2025.
Beloved husband of Beverley for 62 years. Much loved father of Linda and Shelley, and loving dog daddy to little Lottie and Oliver Louis. Dear brother to the late Norien, Helen and Roy. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and friends.
Bruce was a man of strong faith. He grew up in the Salvation Army where his love of music grew playing trumpet and piano. He was an active member of the Anglican Church in his adult years, singing in the choir and serving on the Board of Management and as Rector’s Warden at St. Matthew’s Church.
Bruce taught with the Greater Essex County District School Board for over 30 years, beginning his career at Central, Northwood and Princess Anne, before retiring at Queen Victoria in 1997.
Bruce was an avid reader and writer, and enjoyed singing in the Essex Men’s Chorale. He spent hours working in the garden and kept watch over his favourite sports - football, basketball and hockey (Go Montréal Canadiens). He enjoyed family vacations to England, Disney and several cruises.
We are grateful to the nurses and especially to Dr. Gow at Erie Shores Healthcare for their care and kindness to Bruce while in Palliative care.
A special thank you to the staff at Country Village for the care during his three years there. And to Bruce’s PSW Sam, thank you for making Bruce’s evenings more comfortable-we never had to think twice when we knew you were on shift!
If you so desire, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Windsor/ Essex County or Country Village Long-Term Care Home, Woodslee. A private family service has taken place.
