Obituary of Silvio Fogal

FOGAL, Silvio

Silvio passed away with his loving family by his side on March 29, 2025, one week from celebrating 90 years of life. He was cherished husband to Pierina for 62 years, devoted father to Rob (2014) (Deborah), Joanne (Michael), Roger (Georgina), and Gary (Lek).

He was a loving Nonno to Seren, Josh, Jake, Ben, Ezra, Gabriel, Finn, Nino, Airi, and Risa.
Son to Giovanna and Silvio Fogal, brother to beloved sister Linda Bonato (2024) whom he shared many wonderful memories, along with 3 more loving sisters in Italy, Licia, Rita, and Tecla. He is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and Australia.

Silvio was known for his gregarious approach to life and his ability to put all he met at ease: a kind query, an infectious smile, a joke, and an expectation to sit and chat at the kitchen table, where all would soon be sharing stories and laughter.
He shared his life with his loving wife Pierina, a marriage where mutual respect, kindness, admiration, and devoted faith in God and each other, bound them together for many wonderful years.

Silvio enjoyed gardening, making homemade wine, cycling and walking the neighbourhood, often stopping to visit friends and family along the way. He had an adventurous spirit, travelling with family and friends across Canada and the United States, the Dolomites of Italy, and the countries of southeast Asia.

He worked for many years at the Canadian Bridge Company and the University of Windsor, was a volunteer of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 40 years, and a devoted member of St. Angela Merici Church.
Silvio arrived in Canada in 1954 from Veneto, Italy, and soon after he and his wife Pierina planted roots in Windsor. His legacy is his family and all who had the good fortune of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at St. Angela Merici Church (980 Louis Ave., Erie St. E.) on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 from 9:30 am until 11 am, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11 am. Cremation to follow.  As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com
